Kneading Change
Hello Everyone, we’re Kneading Change, a narrative change company that serves justice-seeking people, organizations, and businesses who are ready to embrace and explore their multiple identities. We do this through liberation-focused education, coaching, and consulting. At Kneading Change, we strongly believe in the concept of Reclaiming Wholeness — that all people deserve to be whole and live beautifully intersectional and complex lives without needing to simplify that identity for anyone. Both of us are on our own journeys around exploring what Reclaiming Wholeness means to us personally in regard to our own identities and how we engage with the world. In fact, Reclaiming Wholeness is a value and practice we aim to bring into everything we do, whether it’s our 1:1 coaching, workshops on writing story-based job application cover letters, or our upcoming Connect With Your Ancestors Group Coaching Program. Our soon-to-be-unveiled Reclaiming Wholeness Box (more about that in a bit) is also built all around this concept!
Our two-person team, Rachel Arlene Redeye Porter and Camila Furr Márquez, first met in 2015 at the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy where we were both studying gender analysis, social entrepreneurship, and Indigenous rights. We were two of very few US-based BIPOC (Rachel identifies as Seneca and mixed and Camila identifies as Nepantlerx) in our program and both of us pursued careers addressing systemic change within the U.S. context because too often the systemic oppressions occurring in the U.S. are left out of International Relations discussions. When Rachel moved to my (Camila’s) hometown of Santa Fe, NM in January 2020, we were motivated to make positive change in the world together and began collaborating on a podcast about the U.S. - Mexico border. However, when George Floyd was killed on May 25, 2020, and conversations about police brutality peaked among previously disengaged people, we decided to expand our focus and meet the momentum of the moment by hosting and facilitating anti-racist and liberation-focused study groups, workshops, and community building events.
Right now, our team is working on creating a Reclaiming Wholeness Subscription Box which will include access to special workshops, events, curated products created predominantly by non-binary and women BIPOC. We’re hoping that the items in the box can be tools to support our individual and collective journeys in Reclaiming Wholeness as the box is ultimately an invitation to join us in brave spaces where we can come together in community. We’re hoping to launch our Kickstarter soon, so subscribe to our newsletter to stay up-to-date on all the details. Or… if you’re a creator, connect with us (info@kneadingchange.org) about being one of our featured artists.
With gratitude and love,
Camila & Rachel
